Mr. Aurelijus Gutauskas has obtained a law degree from Mykolas Romeris University in Vilnius, Lithuania. In 1993, he got the Bachelor of Laws from this educational institution and then a Master of Laws in 1995. In 2002, he obtained a doctorate degree from the Law Department of this University after defending the thesis on the topic “Organized Crime and its Criminal Legal Evaluation”.

Mr. Gutauskas’s vast employment history has been a harmonious combination of academic and teaching experience, as well as judicial career at various Lithuanian institutions. Particularly, since 2010 till nowadays Mr. Gutauskas has been working as a Professor and Department Head at several universities in Vilnius. Besides, since 2013 he has been a Judge and Chairman of the Criminal Division at the Supreme Court of Lithuania, as well as the Chairperson of the Judicial Ethics and Discipline Commission.

Moreover, Mr. Gutauskas has been engaged in various academic projects as an expert and council member in a wide range of institutes and assessment centers located in Lithuania. Mr. Gutauskas has also provided expert advice to several international anti-corruption organizations and groups such as GRECO and MONEYVAL. He is the author of dozens of scholarly research articles relating to criminology, international criminal law, and organized crime prevention.
